Véronique Provencher, PhD, RD

Laval University

Véronique Provencher is an assistant professor in the Department of Food and Nutritional Science at the University of Laval and a researcher at the Institute of Nutraceuticals and Functional Foods. In 2009, she received a Junior I research grant from the Fonds de la recherche en santé du Québec (FRSQ), and has also been awarded a number of other research grants.

A qualified dietitian and member of the Ordre professionnel des diététistes du Québec, Dr. Provencher earned a masters degree and doctorate at the University of Laval before undertaking postdoctoral research in psychology at the University of Toronto (Bisby Fellowship from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research).

Her field of research focuses primarily on the psychological and behavioural factors relating to the regulation of food intake and body weight. Her ultimate aim is to help develop new clinical practices and public health policies that promote weight management within a program of healthy eating over the long term.
